Brotherhood group in Mexico collects 1.7 tons of aid for Cuba


Mexico City, March 12 - The Mexico-Cuba Brotherhood Group of the Chamber of Deputies collected 1.7 tons of aid for the island, reported Cuban Ambassador to Mexico City, Eugenio Martínez, today.

“The Mexico-Cuba Brotherhood Group of the Chamber of Deputies announced that it collected 1.7 tons of aid for the people of #Cuba and financial resources used to purchase cancer medications already sent to the National Institute of Oncology and Radiobiology of Cuba. They decided to acquire more,” he stated.

Through messages on his social media account, the diplomat noted that, during a meeting of the Group, he was informed of “their decision to continue defending the Cuban people with new agreed-upon actions,” and sincerely thanked them for their support of the Caribbean nation.

According to the Cuban diplomatic mission, the Mexico-Cuba Brotherhood Group held a working meeting with some twenty members of parliament, to which they invited the Ambassador;the Deputy Chief of Mission, Ambassador Johana Tablada; and the Political Counselor, José Maury.

The government of President Claudia Sheinbaum, as well as labor, social, and political organizations, have consistently and extensively demonstrated their solidarity with the island amidst the tightening of the US embargo.

On February 28, the Navy ships Papaloapan and Huasteco arrived at the port of Havana with a total of 1,193 tons of food supplies. According to the Mexican Foreign Ministry, 23 tons of aid included in the shipment were delivered by various social organizations with the support of the Havana government to a collection space set up in the Historic Centerand corresponded to a first delivery

This shipment is Mexico's second delivery by sea, following the arrival in the Caribbean nation on February 12 of some 814 tons of essential food and hygiene products, which immediately began to be distributed to the population. (PL) (Photo: Taken from the Internet)
