Dialogue with Ignacio Ramonet for Cuban Press Day

Havana, March 12th - The Pabellón Cuba in the capital is pleased to welcome today the French-Spanish journalist Ignacio Ramonet, who will discuss his literary and intellectual work in the context of the celebrations for Cuban Press Day.

Organized by the HermanosSaíz Association (AHS, by its acronym in Spanish) and led by journalist Magda Resik, the "Encounter with..." space in the Salón de Mayo invites the public to get to know one of the personalities with vast knowledge of international politics and a Doctor of Social Sciences.

Author of books such as Cien horas con Fidel (One hundred hours with Fidel), Guerras del siglo XXI (Wars of the XXI Century) and La era del conspiracionismo (The Age of Conspiracy),Propagandas silenciosas (Silent Propaganda), and, among others, the intellectual is an essential compass for understanding the present from a perspective where his leftist thought and stance in favor of just causes prevail.

With surgical precision, he has analyzed topics as complex as the blockade imposed over six decades ago by the United States government against Cuba, the conflict in Ukraine, the crimes in Palestine at the hands of Israeli forces, the phenomenon of fake news, and the US military aggression in Venezuelan territory last January 3rd.

In each episode of his podcast El mundosegúnRamonet (The world according to Ramonet), the prominent academic and specialist in geopolitics and international strategy offers a masterful lecture to observe the world with different eyes and unravel conflicts that go beyond the headlines.

Doctor Honoris Causa by five international universities, Ramonet interviewed Commander in Chief Fidel Castro and former Venezuelan president Hugo Chávez, experiences he later conveyed to readers.

His signature appears on around thirty books, all translated into several languages, while his career is endorsed by numerous recognitions such as the Prize for the best foreign journalist defending Peace (Italy, 2000), Prize for the best journalist defending human rights (A Coruña, 2000), and the Rodolfo Walsh Journalism Award "for his professional career" (Argentina, 2003).
