Vice President of the New Azerbaijan Party receives Cuban ambassador


Havana, Mar 14.- The vice president and head of the Central Office of the New Azerbaijan Party, Tahir Budagov, received in Baku the ambassador of Cuba to the Caucasian nation, Carlos Valdés.

According to the diplomat's communication to Prensa Latina, during the meeting he offered his interlocutor detailed information about the current situation in Cuba, particularly regarding the increasing measures of pressure and economic asphyxiation imposed by the United States.

In that context, he referred to the executive order signed on January 29, 2026, by President Donald Trump, as well as the difficulties the country faces, including the fuel shortage derived from these policies.

Valdés insisted that Cuba does not maintain or provoke a hostile attitude towards any country, emphasizing that its sovereignty and independence are not negotiable.

He also highlighted Cuba's profound gratitude towards the states, parliaments, parties, and friends who demonstrate their solidarity in difficult times.

For his part, Budagov expressed that in Azerbaijan they receive with regret the situation faced by the Cuban people and thanked the information offered by the ambassador about the current reality of the island.

He expressed his understanding of the difficult situation Cuba is going through and offered strength to the Cuban people, manifesting the certainty and desire that the situation be resolved in a climate of peace.

Budagov stressed that the presidents of Azerbaijan, IlhamAliyev, and of Cuba, Miguel Díaz-Canel, who in turn lead the governing party organizations, attach great importance to the development of bilateral relations based on the principle of equality between their countries.

During the dialogue, both Valdés and Budagov noted that there are significant potentials for fruitful cooperation in the economic, commercial, cultural, medical, educational, tourist, agricultural, and other spheres.

It was highlighted that both friendly countries, in the current complex geopolitical situation, are implementing an active and constructive policy, demonstrating a firm stance in the protection of national security and state interests.

Likewise, it was noted that Azerbaijan and Cuba, which continue to cooperate effectively in organizations such as the UN and the Non-Aligned Movement, unequivocally support each other regarding territorial integrity, independence, and sovereignty, in accordance with international law.
