Party leader evaluates sugar harvest and agricultural work in Camagüey (+ Photos)


Camagüey, March 15.- The member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (CCPCC), José Ramón Monteagudo Ruiz, urged in Camagüey to make greater use of the remaining days of the month of March and next April to contribute more to production sugar industry based on greater discipline, demand and control.

This was stated during a two-day working visit to this province, an occasion in which he visited productive enclaves of the territory to evaluate the progress of the sugar harvest and the planting of various crops.

Accompanied by the highest authorities of the province, the head of the Agri-Food Department of the CCPCC, on a visit to the Siboney plant in the municipality of Sibanicú, exchanged with managers and workers, who explained that after the start of milling on December 28, about The planned 2,600 metric tons of sugar have been fulfilled, around 1,600, destined primarily for the basic-supply rationing.

In the agricultural order, the work in the green ring that borders the capital of Camagüey was confirmed in the municipality of Camagüey, made up of 114 farms that promote the planting of vegetables, vegetables and fruit trees.

A positive experience was that of David Hernández González, in charge of the Villa Luisa farm, a reference site in the planting of fruit trees thanks to the optimal use of each portion of the land through the intercropping of crops, among which guava, avocado and mango, to which is added a mini-industry for the best use of the crops.

Likewise, the productions of farmer Jorge Viera were confirmed, with plantations of sweet potato, cassava, pumpkin, banana, beans and guava, and vegetables.

In the municipality of Vertientes, areas under development belonging to the Ruta Invasora Agroindustrial Grain Company were visited, where bananas are promoted using the extra-dense method, as well as the Los Mellizos farm, owned by producers Lázaro and Leonardo Lezcano, distinguished for its high yields and at this moment with several hectares in preparation to plant varieties of root vegetables and vegetables.

The delegation also arrived at the packing area of ??the Panama plant, where about 60 tons of sugar are processed daily, destined for the family basket of the province.

The party leader also visited the Carlos Manuel de Céspedes sugar mill, in the territory of the same name, an entity that has presented instability since its start on January 28 and with a milling plan of around 20 thousand metric tons.

There he learned about the main difficulties that affect delays in the production process, such as water supply and instability in the entry of raw materials.

Monteagudo Ruiz also spoke with workers from Cespeda productive areas of reference in various crops and livestock such as the Gualberto Galván Agricultural Production Cooperative, where there is a collective space that encourages the planting of bananas, sweet potatoes, pumpkins, onions and garlic, in addition to cane, its fundamental activity, and the La Victoria farm, owned by rancher Albérico Cervantes, with significant yields in obtaining milk.
