Camagüey: refrigerators for families in vulnerable situations

Camagüey, March 20.- Families in vulnerable situations in the province of Camagüey were favored with the arrival of 89 refrigerators, assigned by the Directorate of Labor and Social Security together with the Administration Councils.

During the evaluation for the distribution of these appliances, representatives of Public Health and Education also participated, prioritizing children with chronic diseases, bedridden people, older adults and mothers with multiple children.

Niurka Caballero Argilagos, deputy director of Prevention, Assistance and Social Work in the region, pointed out that the financing of these resources comes from the state budget allocated to this task and is supported by Agreement 91/53 that regulates coordinated delivery.

She added that these refrigerators are essential for the proper preservation of food and medicines.

Despite the economic restrictions intensified by the blockade imposed by the United States, Cuba persists in its commitment to the social protection of its most disadvantaged members, overcoming obstacles to guarantee a better quality of life.

The distribution continues in the province and so far, the inhabitants of the municipalities of Nuevitas, Vertientes and Najasa have received assistance. In addition, it is expected that before the end of the current period, a greater number of people will be reached. (Text and photo: Dannys Hernández de Luaces/Radio Cadena Agramonte)
