A blue ribbon: Liset and the unconditional love for her son (+ Photos)

Camagüey, April 2.- Lissett Abreu Quiroz longs for a world tinted blue, a safe and transparent refuge where hues do not alter feelings and tolerance prevails, making love the universal language.

This is the safe haven that Fernando Gómez Abreu longs for, a vital extension of his being.

At 14 years old, with large and expressive eyes, this child finds a singular delight in music and pizzas, interpreting life, its forms and words in a unique way.

Fernando, always restless in search of company, finds his lighthouse in Lisset María, his sister and most faithful companion, despite her young six years she understands with certainty that every day should be like April 2nd, a day dedicated to autism awareness.

Her mother shares with emotion how, from her first days in preschool, her daughter proclaimed with certainty that she would be a teacher, but it is not a common desire, since her determination points to a noble vocation: to become a distinguished special education professional.

Lisset María achieves what sometimes escapes us as parents, perhaps it is that naturalness typical of childhood that allows her to connect in such a unique way, it is difficult to put it into words; She administers her medicine, hugs him, becoming the comfort that calms many shared fears, adds Abreu Quiroz.

From an early age, Fernandito showed a special affinity for music, a talent that his first educators at the Moticas de Algodón nursery school did not take long to discover; they were the ones who lit the spark of a journey that is eternal.

With the desire that each heart be impregnated with the color indigo, this mother extends her hope beyond the domestic sphere towards health entities, the Office of the Historian of the City of Camagüey, the Culinary Association, the Esperanza Azul Project and the Group of Commerce, reserving special recognition for the La Volanta Base Business Unit for its invaluable support, and for sharing the vision of a world seen through the singular purity of exceptional beings.

Abreu Quiroz remembers with gratitude those who extended their hand when they arrived at the Jardín de Sueños Equine Therapy Center, where a multidisciplinary team works tirelessly, and later in Havana, where Fernandito's diagnosis with autism spectrum disorder was confirmed.

This is the world that she wants for Fernandito: a world where understanding is omnipresent, in the parks, on the bus, and where society celebrates each progress of children like him, Danielito, Katerine and Noel, whose sincere and pure looks conquer the soul.

Therefore, as a mother she welcomes every smile and every tear of her children as a gift, carrying with her that vital message that to see clearly it is necessary to look with the heart, one that is painted blue in all its range of shades. Prayer to the Sea by Lissett Abreu Quiroz

Immense sea, deep sea, listen to my prayer and make it become the lullaby of your waves.

I ask you for my child, so that he is never alone, so that you guide his steps and so that, if he loses his way, you make him find it again.

I ask you for my child, that he may have strength to face life, that if it becomes a storm, like you sometimes, he always finds calm again.

I ask you for my child, so that he may acquire wisdom. Help him, mar, to obtain what he needs to understand the world, even when the world does not understand him.

Sea, you are a mirror that reflects the sky in you, I beg you, I beg you, and if you want, turn this request into perennial music from some conch shell, which, to my son, Immense Sea, Deep Sea, LOVE will never be missing.
