Chileans donate surgical equipment to Cuban hospital

Havana, April 19.- Activists from the Cuban solidarity movement in Chile today donated a modern minimally invasive surgery tower to the capital's 10 de Octubre Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital.

Ramiro Burgos, a member of Colectivo Internacionalista, delivered the equipment acquired with 13 thousand dollars raised by that group, in addition to medical supplies such as sutures, reported the Cuban Institute of Friendship with the People (ICAP).

At the event, Brugos expressed great satisfaction with this achievement that fills us with pride and drives us to new purposes to help Cuba, where we were trained, prepared and were welcomed as brothers.

Upon receiving the donation, the director of the hospital institution, Janet Cristóbal, thanked the gesture and also expressed gratitude to those who on previous occasions have sent donations, such as the Nicaraguan Anti-imperialist Network of Solidarity with the Augusto César Sandino Peoples, the Colombian solidarity movement with Cuba and the Latin American and Caribbean Continental Solidarity Network.

For her part, Lily Zamora, ICAP representative, expressed deep gratitude to the Chilean friends - from the Internationalist Collective and the Siboney and Raíces de Cuba groups - for their solidarity actions, and highlighted the relevance of this type of help and the local cooperation projects.

The 10 de Octubre Teaching Clinical Surgical Hospital has around 700 workers and serves a potential population of 250 thousand inhabitants.

Intense construction activity takes place in the center that includes operating rooms, a geriatrics pavilion, the Guard Corps and other construction objects, detailed the director of the institution. (PL) (Photo: Digital Workers)
