Vientiane, October 1st. The Secretary General of the Lao People's Revolutionary Party (LPRP) and President of Laos, Thongloun Sisoulith, received today the Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba, Yamila Ojeda, who is on a working visit.
Sisoulith considered the presence of the member of the Central Committee of the Communist Party of Cuba (PCC) and her accompanying delegation as an important step to strengthen cooperation and the fraternal relations between both nations, which he said would contribute to increasing bilateral ties.
Ojeda, for her part, thanked the warm welcome received from the Lao authorities and informed the president about the state of collaboration existing between the attorney general offices of the two countries.
Also, on this Monday, the Attorney General of the Republic of Cuba held a working meeting with the head of the Supreme People's Prosecutor's Office of Laos, Vijaya Kotphuthon, with whom she evaluated the implementation of the memorandum signed by both parties in Havana in 2018.
Kotphuthon and Ojeda described the meeting as an important foundation for the future development of the work of both bodies, in their aim to elevate the role of law in state and society management, as well as in confroting transnational crimes.
At the end of the meeting, the attorneys general of Laos and Cuba signed a cooperation plan for 2025-2026 that includes, among other actions, participation in specialized events held by each country and the celebration of virtual exchanges on topics such as crimes arising from the use of technology and human trafficking.
