Camagüey, Jan 11.- The final stage of the Provincial Baseball Series begins today Saturday at the Cándido González stadium, a battle agreed upon over five games that involves the Sierra de Cubitas teams and the representative of this territory.
The Cubiteños were the big surprise of the last segment of the semifinal phase, when they managed to deliver a decisive sweep in the two scheduled matches against Guáimaro, whose failure took them out of the title contention.
On the other competitive side, the current monarchs, the so-called Princes of Camagüey, also scored a double victory over Céspedes, in both cases with comfortable scores, and are the big favorites to repeat the crown.
According to the planned calendar, after settling the Saturday double day, next Tuesday the 14th, the people of Camagüey will return the visit, on another similar date and, if necessary, there would be a fifth meeting on the 16th in this city city.
But if the quality of the rosters has an influence, Sierra de Cubitas does not seem like the rival qualified to dethrone its adversary, since its pitching is far from what the Agramontinos possess, and that could be a point against their aspirations.
The team that wins the championship will go to the Champion Clubs competition, which if it does not readjust its calendar again, has a date set to start on the 25th of the current month.
The rival, already defined, is Las Tunas. (Text and photo: Gilberto Rodríguez Rivero/Radio Cadena Agramonte Collaborator)
