Washington, Jan. 17. - Streets closed, the White House and the Capitol armored, and more than 25,000 National Guard troops are getting ready today in the capital of the United States for the inauguration of Donald Trump.
The Republican will assume his second term on Monday on the staircase of the federal Congress headquarters with the presence of authorities and thousands of attendees gathered on the National Mall in Washington. According to reports, the event will be surrounded by some 48 kilometers of fences.
According to polls, the president-elect continues with one of the most positive evaluations of his political career.
A CNN poll showed the day before that the public also sees the Republican as more likely to fulfill some of the economic and immigration policy promises that were the focus of his 2024 electoral campaign.
About 72 hours before the end of the transition of power, polls affirm that Trump has majority approval regarding the handling of the transfer of power (55 percent) and likewise the majority of Americans (56 percent) expect him to do a good job in this second period in the Oval Office.
Trump will come to office with the support of the Republicans who control both chambers of Congress, something that has happened for the first time since 2019; however, those surveyed did not offer such optimistic notes regarding this.
