Palestinian NGOs denounce the collapse of life in Gaza

Ramallah, May 19 – The Network of Palestinian Non-Governmental Organizations warned today of the humanitarian collapse in Gaza due to the blockade and Israel's military offensive, and called on the world to stop the war.

In a statement, the institution urged the international community to pressure the neighboring country and force it to lift the siege and attacks on the coastal enclave, home to more than two million people.

It emphasized that since the resumption of the Israeli war campaign on March 18, the territory has been subjected to a wave of bloodshed and brutality greater than previous periods.

It also criticized "the continuous and bloody bombardments resulting in hundreds of deaths" and the blockade, "which has caused an almost total lack of basic goods."

We call on the world to assume its responsibilities to save human lives through immediate action to stop this brutal war, it emphasized.

We also call for the use of "all possible means to ensure that all necessary assistance is provided, to lift the blockade on the Gaza Strip, and to end the policies of ethnic cleansing in the West Bank," it stressed.

The crisis in the coastal enclave deepened yesterday after the launch of a large-scale ground offensive by the Israel Defense Forces (IDF), dubbed "Gideon's Chariots."

The IDF operation involves five divisions and was preceded by a week-long wave of bombing, which left hundreds dead and wounded. (Text and photo: PL)
