Havana, Jun 10th. - The Supreme People‘s Court of the Republic of Cuba today publishes on its website an analysis of the recent update of the Cuban Criminal Code, established in Law 151 of 2021, which has redefined the criteria of authorship and participation in crimes, facilitating a greater identification of criminal responsibility.
The publication emphasizes that Article 20 of the regulations provides that authors will be considered by those who directly execute the act, organize it, carry it out in collaboration with others or induce a third party under duress or error.
The rule also distinguishes participants, including inducers, necessary co-operators and strangers in special subjects.
Experts from the Supreme People's Court emphasize that this reform responds to the need to specify the role of each intervener in the commission of the crime, allowing a fairer application of the penalties while clarifying that the regulations also introduce sanctions mitigation mechanisms, in line with the participation of those involved.
This legal advance, the Supreme People’s Court of the Republic of Cuba assures in the text, is part of the process of improving the Cuban justice system, in line with the principles of proportionality and guilt governing criminal law in the largest of the Antilles. (Text and Photo: Cubasí)
