Havana, July 8 – With visits to ethnographic museums, the Quinta de los Molinos green center, and several summer workshops, the itinerary of the heritage project Rutas y Andares (R y A) begins today in the Cuban capital.
These tours are cultural tourism options for the Cuban family; they are an opportunity to integrate and get closer to the valuable cultural heritage treasured in Havana's Historic Center, said Katia Cárdenas, Director of Cultural Management for the City Historian's Office.
It is also an opportunity to share this experience with the little ones, to connect with family and friends, and to truly discover all the benefits of this part of Havana and the offerings we have far beyond, because it is a way to learn in a fun and engaging way, she added.
Until August 30th, R and A, which celebrates its 25th anniversary, will comply with a varied program of tours that respect the studies of preference of its public: Cecilia Valdés’s Havana, Havana churches, the stained glass windows, archaeology, colonial fortresses, among others.
Scheduled for today is the Popular Art Route, whose meeting point will be the Casa de Asia Museum at 10:00 a.m. local time; the Colonial Environments Route; and Havana and Its Furniture II, at the Colonial Art Museum, at the same time.
The Quinta de los Molinos space will open its doors at 10:00 a.m. with the Mambises and Their History Route; in parallel, the Castillo de la Real Fuerza will offer the Means of Transportation in Havana II Route.
Also organized by the City Historian's Office, the following workshops for children and young people began last Monday: Getting to Know Mozart, Popular Cuban Dances, Comics, Social Cinema, Learning to Speak in Public, Narrative Techniques, Modeling, Illustration, and Artistic Animation.
What began in 2001 as an initiative to highlight the work of the Office's institutions has become one of the city's main summer recreational options, the tabloid of the Cultural Program of the Office of the City Historian of Havana recently highlighted.
It has succeeded in bringing Cuban families closer to the historical and cultural heritage treasured in the Historic Center, it added.
To join the Rutas y Andares (Routes and Walks) tour program, those interested must purchase a physical ticket at the City Museum, or a digital ticket through La Papeleta app, which will be unique for all activities.
The itinerary will be available on the Facebook page of the Cultural Program of the Office of the City Historian of Havana. (Text and photo: PL)
