Camagüey, July 17. - National champion in the 92-kilogram division, Nelson Williams, demonstrated his competitive quality and will seek gold at the open tournament in the Chinese city of Guizhou.
According to media reports, the Camagüey’s native defeated his opponent, host Lin Feng Xie, in the semifinal round by a unanimous 3-0 vote.
The other Cuban winner of the day was Jorge Cuéllar, in the 71-kilogram division, who defeated Kazakh Nurkan Amankeldin 3-0.
Cuba will have another good candidate in the final with the runner-up of the world, the Cienfuegos’ native Saidel Horta (57), who to access the crown will try to subdue the Chinese Ping Lv, whose best result is a subtitle at the Olympic Games of the Youth in the distant year 2014.
Williams will face Han Xuezhen (China), an opponent he can't afford to neglect because he has experience and displays as the main balance a silver medal at the 2022 Asian Games.
Cuéllar, from Sancti Spíritus, will face Shi Han Hu (China).
