Havana, 30 Jul.- On the occasion of the World Day against Human Trafficking, Cuba’s Foreign Minister, Bruno Rodríguez Parrilla, reiterated today that his country maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards all forms of this scourge.
On X, the Chancellor assured that in the island work is being done tirelessly to prevent human trafficking, through coordinated action by the State with civil society organizations.
According to the most recent report published on preventing and combating this crime, Cuba carries out cooperative actions and maintains the exchange of information with international organizations, the International Criminal Police Organization (Interpol), the United Nations system, and counterpart agencies in countries in the region and Europe.
The document also indicates that the various actors involved in the fight against human trafficking, both from the State and civil society, have maintained training as one of the essential elements to increase risk awareness.
The report also adds that specialized care is maintained for victims, as well as for those in situations of greater vulnerability, particularly children, women, older adults, and people with disabilities.
The text highlights that the incidence of crimes related to this phenomenon is low nationwide, as a result of the preventive and confrontation measures implemented, as well as the absence of organized criminal networks in the country. (Source: ACN)
