Camagüey, August 13.- Honoring the historic leader of the Cuban Revolution was the premise of the special morning meeting organized by the Provincial Directorate of Culture to commemorate the 99th anniversary of the birth of Commander-in-Chief Fidel Castro Ruz on August 13.
The meeting brought together artists and intellectuals whose purpose is to make art the main weapon against imperialism, emphasizing creation and its capacity to transform any society.
Kenny Ortigas Guerrero, director of Culture in Camagüey, pointed out the results that the sector has at national level, those that allowed it to be selected as the headquarters of the central activities for the 48th anniversary of the National Union of Culture’s Workers (SNTC, for its acronym in Spanish), to be held next September.
He also stressed that this declaration is the result of the work articulated between all institutions in the sector, which were also responsible for offering a varied summer program designed for all audiences.
During the event, the Ácana Publishing House, the Enrique José Varona Provincial Center of Books and Literature, and the Teatro Principal were recognized with the distinction of being a Distinguished Collective at the national level by the SNTC.
The event featured performances by artists from the Golpe a Golpe Sociocultural Project, who shared their talents to celebrate this day of tribute to the man who always cared about the development of culture. (Text: Idaylén Rodríguez Rodríguez/Radio Cadena Agramonte) (Photos: Camagüey Book Center)
