Agricultural meeting in Minas addresses drought and proposes solutions to improve crops

Minas, Camagüey, September 16. - Analysis of the spring campaign was the central topic at the recent plenary session on various crops, organized by the Noel Fernández Agroindustrial Company and the Agriculture Delegation in the municipality of Minas.

During the meeting, the characteristics of the planting season were discussed, and the main causes influencing the results obtained were identified. Among these were the prolonged dry period and the lack of alternatives to address it.

Problems also mentioned included the diversion of production, a lack of fuel for land preparation, and late payments to producers who supply root vegetables, meat, and milk to the industry.

In response to these challenges, a series of measures have been implemented to optimize the use of land under usufruct by farmers, with the goal of increasing production. Although a slight improvement in rainfall has been observed, priority is being given to providing the necessary resources elements for land preparation, which is the first step toward fulfilling plans for the cold season.

Magalis Morales Calistre, the local Agriculture Subdelegate, highlighted examples of producers who, despite adversity, have achieved satisfactory results in various crops, fruit trees, and vegetables, using techniques such as agroecology and animal traction.

The Agriculture Delegation, in collaboration with the Noel Fernández Company, is implementing a series of actions to ensure the success of the cold season, in order to obtain better results in food production and supply the agricultural markets of the municipal capital and the popular councils.
