Central Cuba town reports temperatures of 9.8° Celsius

Havana, Dec 31.- The meteorological station in Aguada de Pasajeros, in the central province of Cienfuegos, reported temperature values of 9.8° Celsius today, the lowest in Cuba during the early morning hours of this December 31st.

For several days, the Institute of Meteorology (Insmet) had predicted a winter-like day for the final day of 2025 on the Caribbean island.

Following the records in Aguada de Pasajeros are Jagüey Grande, in the western province of Matanzas, with 11.2°C, and Santo Domingo, in central Villa Clara, with 11.3° Celsius.

In the towns of Caibarién, in the central province of Villa Clara, and Topes de Collantes, located within the Guamuahaya or Sierra del Escambray mountain range in the south-central part of the island, thermometers reached 12.5 and 12.8° Celsius, respectively.

The initial Insmet report this Wednesday indicated that minimum temperatures between 13 and 16° Celsius in the western and central regions characterized this New Year's Eve morning in Cuba, with lower temperatures inland and slightly higher ones on the north coast.
