
Havana, Jan 23.- Atmospheric science researchers and specialists will participate in the Meteorology Convention 2026, which will host several congresses and seminars dedicated to topics such as tropical cyclones, climate change, and health, it was announced here today.
Organized by the Meteorological Society of Cuba (SometCuba, for its acronym in Spanish), the event, scheduled for May 18 to 21, will bring together experts who contribute to the knowledge, dissemination, and development of meteorology in all its specialties, as well as those involved in contingency plans for extreme weather phenomena and disaster reduction processes.
According to the announcement, the Convention aims to provide a suitable framework for debating, deepening, and exchanging views on national experiences and the current state of knowledge in multidisciplinary research regarding the highly dynamic laws and mechanisms of Atmospheric Sciences.
Delegates will learn about the latest research in these disciplines at the III Congress on Tropical Cyclones "Benito Viñes Marturell, S.J., In Memoriam"; the III Congress on Climate Change and Health; and the XIII Cuban Meteorology Congress, which includes events on Weather and Meteorological Forecast Applications, Variability, Climate Change and Climate and its Applications, and Air Quality and Atmospheric Chemistry.
Added to these are the Sixth National Meeting on the History of Meteorology, the Scientific Seminar: “Moisture Transport and Climate Variability in Latin America and the Caribbean: Mechanisms, Extremes, and Future Scenarios,” and the First Colloquium on Meteorology, Mass Media, and Social Networks.
