Havana, Jan.30 – The World Skate Marathon Tour, the premier skating marathon competition organized by the sport's international federation (World Skate), will introduce changes to its structure starting with the 2026 season.
The new format, published by the governing body of the discipline on its official website, consists of two levels.
At the top will be the world championship and the world cups. Below is a challenger circuit, created specifically to bridge the gap between regional races and elite events.
This level will provide skaters with more opportunities to compete while simultaneously accumulating ranking points for the tour.
World Skate announced a provisional calendar for the current year and confirmed four international events.
The season will kick off with a World Cup in Shanghai, China, on March 29. This will be followed by a challenger event in Pamplona, Spain, on June 7.
A marathon is scheduled for October 18 as the closing event of the global competition to be hosted by the Paraguayan capital, Asunción.
A challenger event in Jeonju, South Korea, has also been scheduled for November 8.
