Iran was more prepared for war than Trump thought

Moscow, Mar 9.- Iran was more prepared for war than the administration of U.S. President Donald Trump calculated, The New York Times reports, citing U.S. military officials.

The Pentagon announced on Sunday the seventh death of a U.S. military member during the conflict with Iran, raising the confirmed casualties among its troops following the Iranian reaction to the aggression carried out by the U.S. and Israel.

The soldier had been seriously injured on March 1 during an Iranian attack on a Saudi military base with a U.S. presence. He died on Saturday night while being prepared for transfer to a military hospital in Germany to receive specialized care, according to U.S. Central Command.

The Islamic Republic has resisted despite the assassination of its supreme leader, Ayatollah Ali Khamenei, and other senior officials in Israeli attacks supported by the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency (CIA).

On Saturday, Trump witnessed at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware (U.S.) the return of the bodies of his first six soldiers killed: Army reservists who fell in an Iranian drone attack on Sunday at the port of Shuaiba, Kuwait. Since the start of the conflict, retaliatory Iranian attacks have caused at least 20 deaths among their adversaries in the region, including casualties among elements of Israel and other countries.

Meanwhile, officials from the Trump Administration have repeatedly warned that more U.S. casualties are expected in the upcoming phases of the conflict. (Text and photo: RT)
