Havana, May 8. - With the purpose of promoting the casino dance movement, Cuba seeks today to break the Guinnes record with a giant round of that artistic expression and pay tribute to the master Adalberto Álvarez, El Caballero del Son.
The proposal of the international project Resuming the Son, Bailando Casino, of Houses of Culture of the Island, was presented the day before, as part of the celebration for the National Son Day that is celebrated this May 8, anniversary that, in addition, will fulfill a weekly day with several actions in the headquarters of the Pavilion Cuba.
In conversation with Prensa Latina, the director of the Cuban entertainment company Kubasoy, Herson Fernández, commented that in the rehearsal that took place in the populous avenue of Italy, in this capital, three concentric wheels were danced with a single leader.
Fernández added that several institutions are involved in the artistic and dance contest to ensure reaching 2024 with the largest possible participation.
Fernández and other members of the mega casino round dancing even said that more people in the audience were given the opportunity to sign up and join a large number of dancers, so scattered throughout the country.
Uniformed in denim and white jumpers, the participants danced in unison throughout Cuba and, specifically in the capital, founders of this movement came together from universities, including Havana, and cultural houses.
The action is part of the campaign to seize the title of the largest casino round dancing in the world, which in Venezuela involved one thousand 595 people.
The heyday of salsa worldwide in the 1970s determined the spread of casino dancing in the most diverse corners of the planet.
