Cuba, 63rd National Baseball Series, champion club tournament, little leagues

2024 will continue with intense baseball action


 

 

 

Havana, February 10.- An intense baseball action is planned in Cuba for the coming months, mainly due to the beginning of the 63rd National Series, the closing of the champion club tournament, the continuation of the little leagues, and the sub-categories. 15 and under-18 years.

The digital edition of the sports publication JIT highlights that Juan Reinaldo Pérez Pardo, national baseball commissioner, expressed today in a meeting with the press that the year 2024 has started very busy, with the grand final of the elite league and the home run of the stars.

Pérez Pardo added that expectations will grow even more, with the upcoming finals of the club tournament and the little leagues.

Carlos Martín, methodologist in charge of the National Baseball Series, confirmed that the start will be next March 9 in the eastern province of Las Tunas, the reigning champion, although he did not name the runner-up Industriales as a rival, as is almost always the case.

Martín also referred to the long-awaited semifinal phase of the club tournament, whose last edition dates back to 2008 with the crown of the municipality of Guantánamo, notes JIT.

This is a strategic event for each territory, which must create the minimum conditions so that it can bear fruit. In the semifinals, the best teams in three matches will advance to the final. The rivals will be Unión de Reyes, from Matanzas, against Mantua (Pinar del Río) and Trinidad (Sancti Spíritus) against Campechuela (Granma), the manager stated.

In the meeting with the press it was learned that this Saturday the round of 16 of the little leagues - six- inning matches - will begin, with the Villa Clara-Cienfuegos, Matanzas-Mayabeque, Havana-Isla de la Juventud, Pinar del Río matches. - Artemisa, Santiago de Cuba-Guantánamo, Granma-Holguín, Camagüey-Las Tunas and Sancti Spíritus-Ciego de Ávila.

It was also reported that this Saturday the third subseries of the national under-15 and under-18 tournaments will take place, in which barely a home run has been hit (between them).
